Consumer demands fluctuate throughout the year, which can create disruptions in the supply chain. At Wright Logistics, we help businesses master these shifts through a variety of tools and tactics.
But First – What Are Shipping Seasons?
Before you start working with a logistics company, it’s important to understand shipping seasons and what they might mean for your business.
High Season: As you likely guessed, peak season for shipping is August through October. Between children going back to school and retailers stocking up for the holidays, there’s a lot going on.
Holidays: Second to peak season is the holidays. November and December are filled with shippers rushing orders to get delivered before Santa comes.
Quiet Season: After the holidays, January through March, trucking and shipping companies experience their slow time of year.
Produce Season: For fruit and vegetable vendors, April through July is the busiest time of year.
What Wright Logistics Can Do For You
One of the main advantages to working with Wright Logistics is our capability to manage seasonal fluctuations in the shipping industry. We utilize a variety of tactics, including those listed below, to make sure the businesses we work with aren’t hurt as consumer demands shift throughout the year.
Diversification
Most businesses, especially when starting out, tend to work with one or two shipping companies. During peak and holiday seasons, this can cause delays, as those companies are likely working with dozens if not hundreds of other businesses. Our job is to help you avoid over-reliance by partnering with suppliers based on your seasonal needs. We have long-standing relationships with trucking and shipping companies across the country that all of our clients have access to.
Data & Analytics
From stockout rates and fulfillment times to transportation efficiency and route planning, Wright Logistics uses a wide variety of data and analytics to ensure our clients are making the right decisions at the right time. We purchase the software and comb through the numbers so you can spend your time elevating other areas of your business.
Relationship Building
As mentioned above, we’ve built relationships with supplies across the United States. With nearly 15 years in the industry, we are trusted experts who shipping and trucking companies value as partners. Our clients reap the benefits of these relationships, especially during high shipping times when changes need to be made on a dime.
Reviews & Refinement
When seasons change, we take time to review what happened and what can be done to improve for the upcoming or other future seasons. We are committed to evolution, especially when it comes to how our clients manage seasonality.
